My favorite bird song heard when deep in the forest is the hermit thrush (click for mp3 audio). One of the high school festival concert bands I played tuba in during the late 70's was recently featured on BrassCast's Feb 4 '07 podcast. The mp3 sound file features Shostakovitch's Festive Overture and two pieces by Clifton Williams in a very nice recording of the 1976 Pennsylvania PMEA District 7 Concert Band with Otis Kitchen conductor. During summers I sing with the Mount Desert Summer Chorale ... in 2005 we did Faure's Requiem and other music by French composers; in 2006 Mozart's Requiem and other Mozart pieces; in 2007 Handel's Messiah. In 2008 Brahms German Requiem, also sang as a member of the chorus in a production of Carmen. |
